About me

I’ve been chasing starlight since 1988, when a second-hand telescope and a dark sky first hooked me on astronomy.

Sixteen years later, I pointed a camera at the eyepiece and discovered the thrill of turning raw photons into finished images.

By 2008 that hobby had outgrown the backyard, so I designed and built my own observatory—proof that if I don’t have the gear I need, I’ll machine or 3-D-print it myself. Today every ClearSkyPix photo is the product of that maker mindset: custom CNC adapters, printed lens caps, and more hours in Fusion 360 than I’d dare admit.

What drives me now? Blending art, science, and engineering so fellow stargazers, DIY tinkerers, and educators can see how deep-sky beauty is captured—and even build the tools to do it themselves.

When I’m not framing nebulae, you’ll find me sharing the night sky (and the odd bench-lathe mishap) with my wife and kids.

Clear skies,

François Jr. Bouchard
